Cynthia McKinney on “Stolen Elections”

Ron Paul Press Conference Unifies Third Party and Independent Candidates Around Four Key Positions

Polls Indicate Non-Duopoly Candidates Could Determine Outcome of the Election

Ron Paul held what he described as a “very important” press conference on September 10th in Washington, DC. The event brought four third party and independent candidates “together in unity” around a statement of principles.  The event came as polls showed the presidential race tightening and third party/independent candidates getting combined votes of over 10% in swing states. The four candidates – Independent Ralph Nader, the Green nominee Cynthia McKinney, the Constitution Party’s Chuck Baldwin and the Libertarian Party’s Bob Barr along with Ron Paul agreed on the following four key principles:

Foreign Policy: The Iraq War must end as quickly as possible with removal of all our soldiers from the region. Continue reading

Artspace Resident Locked Out; Lawyer is medically incapacitated

Recently I have posted pieces on A Cup of Joe Coffee Shop and tenants in the Artspace Building in Salt Lake City being ousted from their space. Even more recently the Salt Lake City Weekly had a feature article on the issue.

Here is the latest news, as written to me from a person who has been involved in this from the beginning.

John Fitzen, an outspoken member of the Artspace Tenants Association
had a court date this morning. His attorney Kent Fillmore, who has
been representing the residents pretty much for free, suffered a
seizure last week and was hospitalized. He was in the hospital again
on Monday. On Monday he filed a request with the court to postpone
the hearing today because of his incapacity. He spoke with the court
recorder directly. This morning, he called the attorney for the
prosecution, Kirk Cullimore, told him he was going back into the
hospital today, and asked to postpone the hearing. Mr. Cullimore said
no. Mr Fitzen, his wife and 7 year old daughter have been locked out
of their apartment without so much as a change of clothes.

Mr Fitzen had been in touch with the ACLU on Monday, knowing of Mr.
Fillmore’s incapacity, but they have not yet been able to work on the
case. We have called Luke Garrott, the City Council member for the area.

McKinney Calls for New Investigation, Release of Files on 9/11

Wednesday, 10 September 2008 04:23
Seven years ago, criminal terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, the
Pentagon were carried out on September by hijacked planes led to the
deaths of thousands of people. A month later, key figures in the print
and broadcast media and members of Congress were sent envelopes
containing very lethal and highly weaponized anthrax, which led to the
deaths of journalists and postal employees. After the initial shock
diminished, there were calls for explanations, investigations,
accountability and a reasoned response that did not include war. The
administration ignored or openly opposed them. Instead we went into a
call for permanent wars hat would last beyond our lifetime, changes in
civil liberties both overt and covert, a takeover of state power by the
executive branch, and the creation of a national security emergency
state that would somehow protect us.

Cynthia McKinney was one of the few voices of reason during that time in
the Congress. Long an opponent of militarism and wars abroad, she also
called for explanations and accountability when information began to
come to light about multiple advanced warnings and apparent
foreknowledge of the imminence and methods of the attack inside
government intelligence agencies that still failed to prevent it. She
supported calls by the families of the 9/11 victims for an official
investigation in what was being termed a "failure of intelligence" even
though it more closely resembled a failure of response, of standard
operating procedures, and of government officials and agencies to
respond and prepare for, or even comprehend the source of these attacks. Continue reading

Utah media

Yesterday Cynthia McKinney filed for President of the United States in Utah. (See my post below.) Tons of press releases were distributed to all Utah Media, along with follow up reminders. Invitations were sent out to select media outlets to interview her Tuesday night.

Not only were there no responses to the chance to interview this amazing woman, only two camera technicians – Fox 13 and Channel 2 KUTV – and one reporter from KCPW showed up to cover this historic event. Not one newspaper appeared to cover this.

We were told by the camera technicians (they couldn’t even send reporters!) that the coverage would be aired and Fox13 said it would be on their website as well. I heard that there was a clip on channel 2 during the day, but I have not seen any video at all on the internet.

How very sad for Utahns to be deprived of this news.

Meanwhile, the big headline news on the front page of Utah newspapers this week was – no, not Hurrican Gustav or the RNC (although they had their places on the front page), or the plight of our health care or education systems in the U.S., or the travesty of strip mining our mountains in the west – it was (drum roll please)…..

Jessica Robinson from Sandy, Utah winning one million dollars on “Deal or No Deal”.

Now THAT’S news worthy of a flashy front page spread!

I hope that our blogging community will help spread the word about Cynthia McKinney running for President. I will be posting as much as I can, including showings of her award winning film (in Sundance) “American Blackout”.

Green Party Presidential Candidate on Utah’s Ballot

Sep 03, 2008 by Elizabeth Ziegler

(KCPW News) This may be the reddest state in the nation, but Cynthia McKinney just made
it a little greener. The Green Party presidential candidate came to the Capitol Building
this morning to add her name to the Utah ballot. Regardless of her chances of winning the
White House seat, she says it’s important nonetheless for Green candidates to run.

“We believe in our country, and we believe in the value of participating in the political
process,” McKinney says. “We participate in politics because we want our values reflected
in public policy. And to the extent that we can provide voters choice so that the voters
can vote their values, then our system is much stronger, and our country is much
stronger.”

WASHINGTON, DC — Calling the Obama/Biden ticket the "faux antiwar" candidates, Green Party leaders urged national support and votes for the Green Party nominees, Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente, and for the party’s ‘Peace Slate’ of candidates for Congress and other offices.

Greens challenged the belief among many pro-Obama voters that his candidacy opposed the warhawk actions of the Bush-Cheney White House, and noted that the Democrat-led Congress elected in 2006 — including Sen. Obama — endorsed most of the Bush Administration’s legislative agenda.
