UPDATED: Pete Ashdown Blogswarm Day

7:45pm Update:
I decided I would write a little about my brief experiences with Pete so far.
Pete participated in a debate that I helped organize last Saturday with Utah U.S. Senate Candidates, which you can read about here. An amazing thing happened with this event. Pete had to be in Kanab the day of the debate and would not be able to make it back to Salt Lake to be there in person. So we decided that Pete would patch himself in via cyberspace technology. Not only did one Ashdown campaign volunteer show up, but there were three who worked diligently for about an hour to get everything working so that Pete could participate in the debate. It worked fabulously for the most part. I am very thankful that Pete had the equipment and know-how and the volunteers to do this. It definitely added a “different” component to the evening.

Most things Pete stated in the debate I agreed with. I especially liked hearing him state that he was against the Divine Strake test. I have since asked Pete if there is any way he can come to the Nevada Test site to participate in a big action I am helping to plan on Memorial Day weekend and if he can provide the resources to do a remote webcast from there (details about the action forthcoming….). I hope to hear from him soon on this. I’ve also encouraged him and the other U.S. Senate candidates to agree to future debates.

While I don’t officially endorse Pete’s campaign, as stated below, I think he’s great and has good ideas and philosophies. I’m glad he is running and has so many people behind him.

Today is “Pete Ashdown Blogswarm Day”. I will post the links here of blogs who post about Pete Ashdown, specifically why they support his campaign.
I will not be posting an article on “why I support Pete Ashdown” because I officially support the Desert Greens Green Party of Utah candidate,Julian Hatch for U.S. Senate. I think Pete’s a great guy, and I will support my fellow Utah bloggers by keeping this page updated with a link to the Pete Ashdown Blogswarm. Kudos to everyone who supports a change in our Utah U.S. Senator!

    School Violence and Safety Solution
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, According to the National Center for Education Statistics, In the 2003 school year, an estimated 26.4 million students ages 12-18 were enrolled in U.S. schools.
Data from the National Crime Victimization Survey show that students ages 12-18 were victims of about 1.9 million nonfatal crimes at school, including about 1.2 million thefts and 740,000 violent crimes (simple assault and serious violent crime)—150,000 of which were serious violent crimes (rape, sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated assault).
Many tragedies have plagued the schools of children, unexpectedly endangering their safety, and in some cases taking their lives.
Recent on-campus shootings resulting in multiple deaths are tragic events that affect not only the families and schools involved, but everyone else as well.
Similar type of brutal killing sprees have plagued our schools long before Columbine and will continue to threaten the lives of students and educators unless a proactive, preventative plan is implemented into our schools.
To gamble with students and faculty member’s safety is no longer optional. A better plan is needed. Just like the old traditional fire drill, an emergency crisis response intervention plan must be implemented and practiced.
First Class Protective Services is a California based company created in response to the need of safety for children and individuals.
STELT (Student, Teacher Emergency Lockdown Training) was developed to prepare student, teachers and other faculty members to proactively prepare to remain safe during a potential life threatening occurrence.
Come and join us. Learn more about STELT. The program is designed to help teachers and students to proactively prepare to be safe. Once customized to suit your campus, students, teachers and all facility members can practice these techniques as simply as they have practiced traditional fire drills.
