KSL publishes AP report predicting Hatch’s victories 6 minutes after polls close

What’s up with THIS:

Hatch will Become Utah’s Longest-Serving Senator
November 7th, 2006 @ 8:06pm

Didnt’ the polls close at 8:00pm? When I check the election results AFTER 8:06pm, Pete Ashdown was ahead by a landslide (at that time).

Hmmm….

  1. I saw the same thing early on with Ashdown in the lead–and right now, with 14% of precincts reporting, Hatch is in the far lead with everyone saying he’s basically won. Annoying.

  2. It’s called Exit Polling…
Done every election….right almost every time.
Dan Jones and Associates. You might want to check into that.
He can call almost every local race he looks into before you realize the polls are closed. Only race to close tonight was the SL DA race.

    Actually that’s not true.
“The call for Hatch in the Senate race was based on a number of factors, including voter turnout, previous voting patterns and a statistical analysis of the vote from voter interviews conducted for The Associated Press by Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International.”
I didn’t see any mention of a Dan Jones and Associates poll.
