It’s hard for me to believe that my daughter will be 16 in less than one week and my son will be 19 in a few weeks. (My oldest turned 21 in August). Despite all of our turmoils, setbacks and hardships we have all suffered in the past 10 years, the kids have turned out to be great.
It’s been a learning experience for us all and I feel that the kids are stronger and more responsible because of what they have been through. I think struggles do make us stronger, but more than that, it’s the support system that contributes to those struggles as well. Whether it be both parents or one, no parents and many friends and/or other relatives….if there is support there for those who need it, it makes a difference.
My parents have always been a great source of support and I learned from their example to be a source of support for my children and for others when needed. Life is sacred and the quality of that life depends on our support of each other and of all life.
