Last week I filed to run for Salt Lake County Council in my district. I decided to run because I have never run for office and I feel that everyone should at least once in their life.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my platform and will be formalizing that more as time progresses, but something really struck me at the panel discussion on Saturday night that Cliff Lyon (the moderator) stated. He communicated to the audience that all people holding and running for public office should be having as their platform their position on the Iraq war and the U.S. administration’s policies – from the Town Recorder up. I was happy to hear Cliff say this because I have been wondering how I would incoporate such into a county race platform. Hearing what he said made it click for me.
I will be thinking about how to incorporate the war issues into my platform over the coming weeks. My campaign website is up and running and will contain more information soon:
