Dee’s Bio – Activism

Read my basic bio here.

Deanna “Dee” Taylor is a devoted community advocate with a passion for building community resilience and well-being. Dee has been a longtime member of the Green Party of Utah, where she has held leadership positions, run for office, and been elected to municipal office. Nationally, Dee has served as co-chair of the Green Party’s National Women’s Caucus, co-chair of the Annual National Meeting Committee, and helped form the Green Elders Caucus, along with holding other leadership roles on various committees of the Green Party of the United States over the last two and a half decades. Dee believes the Green Party is the only political organization with a platform capable of transforming the current political system and fostering a global movement for social change.

Dee is actively engaged in her community, championing social justice through grassroots efforts. She has been at the forefront of both local and national movements, advocating for Indigenous sovereignty, an end to war, women’s rights, and climate justice. Dee has also participated in acts of civil disobedience in support of nuclear disarmament, resisting tar sands extraction, and promoting food security through public land use. She co-founded a grassroots non-profit dedicated to education, human rights, environmental sustainability, and community resilience. Her commitment to community is embodied in her motto: “Be kind. Be Connected. Be unafraid.” (Rivera Sun).

Dee serves on the Blue Sky Institute Board of Trustees, the Advisory Board of Green Horizon Magazine, and is a former Board member and officer of the Fairpark Community Council.

Dee and her husband Tom reside in Salt Lake City, where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren, engaging in urban farming, hiking, camping, and other community activities.
