- There is a public perception that substantive and complex issues are not given adequate debate during the legislative session, how would you address this issue?
I would urge my fellow legislators to give such debate, and I would pose questions and request time for such debate.
- What can the legislature do to improve the future quality of Public Education in Utah?
1. Provide more funding.
2. Provide more funding.
3. Provide more funding. - What can the state legislature do about the cost of healthcare?
Enact legislation establishing a single payer health care system. - What suggestions do you have to limit our present and future use of natural resources?
I suggest that legislators view ongoing continuous growth in the way that a Medical Doctor views it when it occurs in a person’s body. As cancer. The only way to sustainably continue life on this planet is to create a sustainable economy, as opposed to a growth economy as we have now. - What 2 things would you like to accomplish for the people of Utah ?
1. Remove the sales tax entirely from Food. The shortfall in revenue can be balanced by taxing luxury expenditures such as large cars, Lagoon Passes, Ski lift passes etc.2. Redirect Transportation Funding from Roads to Mass Transit. As the price of oil continues to climb, eventually only the very well to do will be able to afford to drive all the time. This leaves the rest of us in dire need of public transportation such as commuter rail, light rail and busses.
