California’s Proposal to the GPUS

Read the background information on this at: Report

Today the California GP put forth a proposal to the GPUS NC to conduct an investigation into the Utah Green Party scenario of 2004.

The proposal is filled with all sorts of erroneous facts. Example:

California states in its proposal background:

“In court the state of UTah found in favor of the GPUT group being the
continuing green party of Utah with the right to use the name.”

This is highly misleading. Anyone who has actually read the court petition knows this is false.
The court case was to have the court accept the change of officers that the GPUT had made so that they would honor the certification of
Cobb as candidate.

It was the GPUT that sued the elections office (didn’t California read the list of
who was suing who?),so the court could not have ruled in FAVOR of the GPUT as stated above, since it was the GPUT that sued THEM! That whole background paragraph is biased and erroneous as is much of the information contained within the proposal.

The Desert Greens Green Party of Utah feels that the NC cannot investigate itself as
the GP – conflict of interest. How can an entity investigate itself?

How can California know what happened without having personally experienced the events of 2004? Did they read the document we sent? (It does not appear that they did). Did they read the ENTIRE court document? (Again, it does not appear that they did since they are making erroneous statements in their proposal when the facts are laid out in writing directly on the first page of the court document as to who sued who!).

Read the Entire
set of court documents

The proposal outlines an investigative panel comprised of all GPUS NC members and Utah members. This is unacceptable and biased right from the beginning. There is absolutely no one in the party who could provide an unbiased investigation, let alone members of Utah greens. This is equated to the U.S. Army conducting its own investigations on charges of crimes by soldiers and officers. And we know how THOSE decisions turn out.

The Texas Greens are developing a counter-proposal for an independent investigation to be conducted by someone totally not involved – like a retired lawyer, etc.

This makes sense to me.

To all you NC members out there:

EDUCATE YOURSELVES – READ ALL THE DOCUMENTS. SUPPORT AN OUTSIDE INVESTIGATION. VOTE DOWN CALIFORNIA’S PROPOSAL.

It is not an equitable proposal. Don’t just take my word. Read it for yourself before making up your minds.
