Rally at capitol in support of GLBT community

The Parents and Families of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) organization held a rally at the capitol late Monday afternoon to voice support for the Gay Straight Alliance Clubs in public schools.

Cameron Lopez, who wrote I am through allowing myself to be a victim in Sunday’s Salt Lake Tribune, spoke to today’s crowd, his words which drew thunderous applause.
We’re not looking to “survive” – we need to able to “thrive”. Just because you don’t want to talk about it,[homosexuality] please don’t try to silence me….or my future.”
Cameron was joined by his brother, Zachary Lopez, who also spoke to the crowd.






Boyer Jarvis, U of U professor, stated “I’m a recovering homophobe.” He stated that he is determined “to make available to eeryon eelse the same priveleges that I have taken for granted all of my life.”
