A boycott has been issued against Larry Miller, the local entrepeneur who has pulled the film Brokeback Mountain from his theater in Sandy, Utah.
Here is the call to action followed by a list of all of Larry Miller’s holdings:
COMMUNITY CALL TO ACTION
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION! VOTE WITH YOUR DOLLARS EVERY DAY!
“Brokeback Mountain” is a film with the power to open mainstream America’s eyes to the experience of two Midwestern men, and to generate productive discussions about Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer experiences. Late last week, the Jordan Commons Megaplex (owned by Larry H. Miller Holdings) abruptly changed its screening plans and decided not to show the film. This is yet another example of a prominent business withdrawing support for GLBT supportive events and media at the last minute.
If you believe it’s time to show Utah’s prominent businesspeople (like Utah Jazz owner Larry H. Miller) that treating queer people as “controversial” and supporting anti-GLBT politicians and initiatives is a poor business move, vow to make 2006 a year to vote with your hard-earned dollars! Make a concerted effort to put your money to work!
If you take the challenge, consider the first of many important steps and avoid the following list of Larry H Miller Holdings in Utah as you look for places to spend. If you are a current customer of any of these entities and do choose to stop spending your money with them, please let them know why! You could also visit the Larry H. Miller Group web site at http://www.lhm.com/ and post your comments under the “Contact Us” tab.
This “Community Call To Action” is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen our call for equality in Utah!
We, at The Center, will continue to work in collaboration with other GLBT and non-GLBT organizations to identify those businesses who support progressive business practices (e.g. Domestic Partner
Benefits) and embrace diversity!
Sincerely,
Valerie A. Larabee

Larry H Miller
You have urged me to do a hard thing, Now I have to travel along way to go to SLC to buy a new car from Larry H Miller. He did a great thing for the decreasing morals in the United States.
Re: Larry H Miller
Thank you for your comment. Would you please use your first name in the future?
I have a question for you. Larry Miller’s Megaplex Theater shows films with explicit sexual content and violence. Do you advocate those issues? If not, please encourage Larry H. Miller to show only G rated movies at this theater complex.
Thanks! Deanna
Please make sure to view the films being shown at Larry Miller’s Theater complex by reading my post at :
Larry Miller Boycott. You will be amazed to see the films that promote drug use, sex, torture and violence.
Please ask yourself: What constitues “decreasing morals in the United States?”
Re: Larry H Miller
Wow,
You think the morals of the film “Hostel” (currently showing at LHM theatres) are good ones, but Brokeback Mountain is bad? Weird ideas of morality. Do you beat puppies in your spare time?
Oh, and it’s “a long way” not “along way”

Larry Miller
Me to. Will now go out of my way to purchase from the Miller Group businesses. Tired of “your” message and so called lifestyle being crammed down our throats.
Larry Miller
Yes, the Larry Miller theatres show movies that depict less than desireable morals, images and storylines. It is what Hollywood is churning out——it is what people will PAY to see. Doesn’t make it right or any better than “Brokeback”. Brokeback is just the one he decided to send the message with. Here is the message. We are tired of movie themes that accentuate abnormal relations between two people of the same gender. We are tired of people who equate sexual orientation to being the same thing as a racial difference. We are tired of media and press that depict those of us with a differing view that we are bigoted and intolerant. Your “little” boycott is MY example of YOUR intolerance to Larrys message. It’s his theatre- – – he can do as he pleases. Please boycott those businesses. It will give us a breath of fresh air away from the stifling agenda that you wish impose on all.
Re: Larry Miller
I am tired of Hypocrisy. I would like to see Mr. Miller pull ALL “R” rated films and movies with explicit sex and violence pulled from this theaters. If Mr. Miller, and you, want to promote your morals and values on the rest of society, please stop insisting that it is o.k. to show films with one set of “bad” morals and not o.k. to show films with another set of “bad” morals.
Re: Larry Miller
Oh, poor little homophobes! They don’t want to be called “bigoted” any more. If it acts like a bigot and sounds like a bigot, it’s probably a bigot. If you don’t like the label, it’s time to examine what you can do to change from a hateful and intolerant person to a loving and accepting one. No one says you have to be gay — just don’t persecute and
As for who’s agenda is being imposed on who, it’s completely the other way away around, my friend. It’s your kind that has dragged the rest of us kicking and screaming into the slaughter-fest of war in the name of “God”, forcing your very unloving “God” on the rest of us ALL THE TIME. Yeah, I’ve read the stuff from your idols that says it’s the other way around — it’s total BS and meant to get you all foaming at the mouth and keeping the intolerant status quo, which is precisely what it’s done.

Heterosexual research
I’m doing some research to find out why some people are heterosexual. Please take a few minutes and answer the following questions:
o1.)What do you think caused your heterosexuality?
o2.)When and how did you decide you were a heterosexual?
o3.)Is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase you may grow out of?
o4.)Is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?
o5.)If you have never slept with a person of the same sex, is it possible that all you need is a good Gay lover?
o6.)Do your parents know that you are straight? Do your friends and/or roommates(s) know? How did they react?
o7.)Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Can’t you just be who you are and keep it quiet?
o8.)Why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex?
o9.)Why do heterosexuals feel compelled to seduce others into their lifestyle?
1o.)A disproportionate majority of child molesters are heterosexual. do you consider it safe to expose children to heterosexual teachers?
11.)Just what do men and women do in bed together? How can they truly know how to please each other, being so anatomically different?
12.)With all the societal support marriage receives, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are there so few stable relationships among heterosexuals?
13.)Statistics show that lesbians have the lowest incidence of sexually transmitted diseases. Is it really safe for a woman to maintain a heterosexual lifestyle and run the risk of disease and pregnancy?
14.)How can you become a whole person if you limit yourself to compulsive, exclusive heterosexuality?
15.)Considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual?
16.)Could you trust a heterosexual therapist to be objective? Don’t you feel s/he might be inclined to influence you in the direction of her/his own leanings?
17.)There seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you to change if you really want to. Have you considered trying aversion therapy?
18.)Would you want your child to be heterosexual, knowing the problems that s/he would face?
I think that these are very important questions that we heteros should ask ourselves.
