Subject: UofU and terrorist apologist speakers on campus RE: Salt Lake speaking Events Oct 13 and 14

Mazin Qumsiyeh is a terrorist sympathizer and as a student of the University of Utah, I find it deplorable that the university campus is being used by “Wheels of Justice” (name snipped) to bring such speakers to campus. Academic freedom does not mean supporting hate-mongering speakers who develop conspiracy theories against countries they hate.

Mazin Qumsiyeh wrote in http://qumsiyeh.org/connectingthedotsiraqpalestine/
“Iraq will continue to be a magnet of resistance fighters pouring in from other Arab and Islamic countries as long as Israel is supported in its continued ethnic cleansing of Palestinians…”

Is the Jordanian Abu Musab Al Zarquai merely a “resistance fighter” when he cuts off the heads of civilian workers in Iraq? Are the suicide bombers merely “resistance fighters” when they blow up Shiite/Kurdish and American civilians, policemen and elected government leaders. Why are Arabs killing other Arabs always overlooked by such speakers as Mazin Qumsiyeh in favor of justifying “resistance fighters”, Hamas and other terrorist organizations?

As a student of the University of Utah I request a response from the University President and other academic leaders on why they are permitting terrorist sympathizing speakers on campus?

regards,

  1. “Civilian Contractors”
I thought everyone was aware that the so-called civilian contractors were actually Blackwater Mercenaries. Blackwater Mercs are usually better armed and armored than the US military. There are also numereous well documented instances of these mercanaries committing acts of rape and looting.
Is the torture policy of the US government something that I should be proud of as an American? Should I be quiet about the blantant violations of the US constitution and International Treaties inherent in this Iraq fiasco that some people advocate supporting? I contend that it is those individuals who support the illegal and immoral war in Iraq are the ones that are demonstrating a lack of support for our troops. Their support of the war keeps our young men and women (not to mention the entire Iraqi civilian population) in harms way. For an illegal war, against a country that had NO ties to al Kaida, NO W.M.D, and whose dictator had not been a problem for “America” until he stopped taking “America’s” orders. Hell, Saddam and Rumsfeld were like good buddies not long ago, I’m sure everyone has seen the picture of Don smiling as he shakes Saddam’s hand.
That anyone would have the gall to say that people who want to bring our young men and women home, out of harms way in an illegal war, are not supporting our troops, and that being a cheerleader for the war makes them a “patriot” and “supporter of our troops” is amazing.
Supporting a war that benefits no one but the CEO’s and stockholders of a few powerful Oil and Defense companies, while keeping our sons and daughters in harms way, where more than 2 per day on average are DYING is a disgrace to our country. I’m not the one that “hates America”, opposing this immoral war demonstrates SUPPORT of what America is all about. Torture is not what America is about. Neither is waging Aggressive War.
